June 4
MEDALLION HUNT CLUE #1 - 9am
“Hehehe… you thought City Hall could keep it safe?”
“This WiSP is quick, this WiSP is sly,
I slipped right through while none asked why.
I’m Wes the trickster, as some may say,
And now your medallion’s gone astray.
From Kennedy’s hill to Marthaler’s trees,
I drift through parks with ghostly ease.
Along old trails and streets of old,
I’ve tucked away your disk of gold.
Seven clues will lead the chase,
Through hidden corners, time, and place.
One medallion.
500 cash.
And all of West St. Paul to dash.
Catch me if you can”
Clue 1 Explained: Wes the WiSP stole the medallion right out of city hall! Wes is introducing the medallion hunt, and challenging West St. Paul to catch Wes, the medallion, and claim the prize of $500!
MEDALLION HUNT CLUE #2 - 4pm
“Hehehe… still found nothing?
Wes is loving all the huffing and puffing.
A medallion this sneaky won’t be found,
By simply wandering all around.
Humboldt splits the east from west,
North of Marie helps divide the rest.
Perhaps you seekers should invest…
A little more time upon the Best.”
Clue 2 Explained: Wes is trying to point medallion hunters into focusing on a smaller portion of the city. Humboldt Avenue splits the city east and west. His choice word ending of Best, is a reference to Best St. Paul, which of course is West St. Paul. The clue is telling hunters to search west of Humboldt Avenue, and north of Marie.

MEDALLION HUNT CLUE #3 - 9am
“Hehehe… getting closer now…
Though some of you still wander far somehow.
Some paths are paved some paths are stone,
Yet careful feet have marked their own.
It’s not you. Or me. Zero frisbees too,
So stop retracing last year’s clue.”
Clue 3 Explained: Wes is telling the hunters to search for homemade paths made within the park, and to follow those. The last two lines indicate that the medallion is not in Orme park, and it is not in Garlough (Last year’s hiding spot).
The Medallion was found after Clue #3 was released! Here are the remaining clues:
MEDALLION HUNT CLUE #4
"Hehehe… Admire the view from where you stand,
No treasure waits in soggy land.
Seek not the place where crowds belong…
But where the few can linger long.
If muck clings fast beneath your shoe,
You’ve searched beyond what you should do."
Clue 4 Explained: Wes hid the medallion in a quieter park with water, but he warns that there is no need to search the water or muddy areas themselves. Wes also hints that the medallion location frames a pretty view.
MEDALLION HUNT CLUE #5
“Hehehe… still enjoying my song and dance?
Find three lucky shapes, from a bird’s-eye glance,.
A hidden hollow, quiet and deep,
Where birds fly through & cottonwoods creep
Harness the power, trace the track
Follow along where maps do lack."
Clue 5 Explained: Wes is pushing hunters to Mud Lake park. When looking at an aerial view of Mud Lake Park, you notice three horseshoe streets surrounding it. These are the three lucky shapes. Mud lake is mostly low land, with birds galore and cottonwoods lining the shores. There is a “homemade” trail on the backside with power poles running east to west, leading to the medallion.
MEDALLION HUNT CLUE #6
“Hehehe..I still sit on my throne!
Not every park is loud and known,
Some sit in silence all alone.
No bouncing balls or playground cries,
No painted courts or cheering skies.
Let this clue Galvanize your feet,
And lead you down a path less beat."
Clue 6 Explained: Wes is again pointing hunters to Mud Lake Park. No playgrounds, no courts, just a quiet and serene environment. Galvin Avenue leads to the “homemade” path on the south end of the park, which leads to the medallion!
MEDALLION HUNT CLUE #7
Hehehe… no more tricks, you've earned your due,
So here's the clearest of my clues.
Some call it a lake, though muddy shores protest,
With cattails and reeds beside its rest.
Find two birdhouses in plain sight,
Then find two trees blocking the light.
There the medallion waits for you,
Within the brush, it shines its hue.
Clue 7 explained. It is in the back of Mud Lake park, as shown in the picture!
